Install the app on your phone
iXTime can sit on your home screen like an app — no app store, straight from the browser. After that it opens from its own icon, in its own window without browser bars.
Step by step
- 01
iPhone & iPad (Safari)
Open iXTime in Safari and sign in. Tap the share icon at the bottom (a square with an arrow), scroll down the menu and choose “Add to Home Screen” (on a German iPhone: “Zum Home-Bildschirm”). Confirm the name and you are done. Note: this only works in Safari — Chrome and Firefox on iPhone do not offer it. On your first visit iXTime shows a one-time hint about this.
- 02
Android (Chrome)
Open iXTime in Chrome and sign in. Chrome offers to install on its own — either as a bar at the bottom or via the ⋮ menu → “Install app”. Confirm, and the iXTime icon lands on your home screen.
- 03
Desktop (Chrome & Edge)
This works on a computer too: a small install icon appears at the right of the address bar, or use “Install iXTime” in the menu. The app then gets its own window without an address bar, plus an entry in your start menu or dock.
- 04
What you get
Its own icon instead of a bookmark, a window without browser bars (more room for your list), a noticeably faster start — the interface is stored locally — and automatic updates: when a new version is ready the app shows a notice and one click loads it.
- 05
What differs on a phone
Tracking, calendar, structure, team and settings are all there. Four reports that need a lot of width live on the big screen — Utilization, Timesheet, Working time and Change log — as does the period lock. The app tells you on the spot: a line under the reports names those four, and in settings the period lock carries a “Desktop” tag.
Do I need the App Store or Google Play?
No. iXTime installs straight from the browser — no store account, no download, no IT approval needed.
Does it then work offline?
No. Only the interface itself is stored so the app starts instantly. Viewing, recording or editing time entries still needs an internet connection — without one you get the same error you would see in the browser.
I don’t see an install button — why?
Two common reasons: you are still on the website rather than in the app — only the app area is installable, so sign in first. Or you are on an iPhone: there is no button there, only the share-menu route (step 01). Chrome also sometimes waits until you have used the app a little before offering it.
Do I get updates automatically?
Yes. The app checks on opening and in the background for a newer version and offers it with a notice. You never end up on a half-updated app — the switch is always complete.
How do I remove it?
Like any other app: press and hold the icon and remove it (phone), or uninstall it from your browser’s installed apps. Your data lives on the server and is untouched — you can simply sign in via the browser again afterwards.
