A period only reads as a whole when the days off are in it too — otherwise it leaves a gap nobody can explain later. iXTime records vacation, sickness and other absences by the day or by the hour, shows them in the calendar and the working-time report, and counts the vacation days taken per person and period.

Full day or by the hour
A whole day is set as a marker, with no invented number of hours. The doctor’s appointment in the afternoon is recorded as a span — like a manual entry.
A date range in one go
Two weeks off are entered once and stored as individual days. If a weekend falls inside, iXTime asks whether to skip it instead of guessing.
Visible in the calendar
A full-day absence sits as a band across the day, an hourly one as a block within it — dashed and in one constant tone, so it can never be mistaken for a project colour.

Switched on per workspace
Off means no type switch, no bands, no tiles — as if the feature did not exist. Switch it back on later and every earlier absence is there again.

How many vacation days are gone already?
The absence tile in the overview and detailed reports adds up per reason — full days as days, hourly absence as hours, never blended into one figure. Any period, filtered to a member or a group. The timesheet carries the same sum as a row per reason below the projects (“2 days + 3 h”), and the working-time report labels the day with its reason instead of computing work and break time.

How do I see how many vacation days someone has taken?
Open Reports, set the period to the year (or quarter, or month), pick the member in the filter — the absence tile in the overview shows the vacation days taken, alongside sickness and other. For the whole team it works the same way, without a filter or with a group.
Are vacation days converted into hours?
No. A full day counts as a day, an hourly absence in hours — the two sit side by side and are never merged into one figure. Merging them would require a daily working time per person, which iXTime deliberately does not store.
Do absences distort my reports?
No. Absence enters no worked-hours, amount, cost, margin or utilisation figure. The same report returns identical values with and without absence entries — it is reported separately.
What if someone records work on a vacation day?
A full-day absence owns the day: no other entry can be created and no timer started on it — and conversely, a full-day absence cannot be placed on a day that already has entries. The day stays unambiguous.
Does the period lock apply to absences too?
Yes. Absences behave like any other entry: they are subject to the monthly lock, every change goes into the change history, and the visibility rules (own / group / all) apply unchanged.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The switch to “Absence”, the reason, full day or hours, the calendar band and the absence tile in the overview are all on the phone exactly as they are on the computer.
