Hours × rate = revenue. Right in the report.
Set hourly rates per customer, project, task or member — inherited down the hierarchy, the most specific level wins. Reports and exports show amounts, not just hours. And with internal cost rates you see what’s actually left over.
From hourly rate to margin
Maintain rates, read amounts, see profitability — all in the flat price.
Rates in the hierarchy
One rate per customer, project or task — empty means inherited, the most specific level wins. Even at customer level, which many time trackers can’t do.
Member rates
Every member can have their own billable rate — it applies whenever customer, project and task don’t set one.
Amounts in reports
Billing total as a KPI, € columns in the groupings, rate and amount per entry — and the billing total per customer.
Exports with €
CSV, Excel and PDF include the amounts — ready for invoicing or controlling.
Internal cost rates
Independent of billing: cost rates per member accrue on every tracked hour — including non-billable time.
Margin visible
Fees minus costs, in euros and percent — per customer, project or member. So you see which work actually pays off.
How it works
Enable
Switch billable rates on in the workspace settings, set a default rate and currency. Teams that don’t need rates never see any.
Set rates
Put rates on customers, projects, tasks or members — empty means inherit, and the resolved rate shows as a preview.
Read amounts
When an entry is saved, its rate is frozen. Reports and exports show amounts and billing totals.
Costs & margin
Enable cost rates separately — reports show cost and margin, visible only to owners, admins and explicitly permitted members.
Frequently asked
What happens to old entries when I change a rate?
Nothing. The rate is frozen when each entry is saved. Rate changes affect only new entries — existing reports stay correct.
Who sees amounts, cost rates and margin?
Amounts are visible to owners, admins and members with the “view amounts” permission. Cost rates and margin are guarded more strictly: owners and admins only by default, because cost rates can reveal salaries.
Can I use multiple currencies?
A workspace has one currency (default: euro). It applies to all rates and amounts and can be changed in the settings.
What happens if I switch rates off again?
Switching off only hides: rates, amounts and frozen values stay stored. Switch back on and everything is exactly as you left it — nothing is deleted.
Does this cost extra?
No. Billable and cost rates are included in every plan, like everything in iXTime — while many competitors gate rates behind higher tiers.
