Create customers, projects & tasks

Your work is organised in a hierarchy of customer, project and task. You decide how many levels there are, what they are called and which colours they carry.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Understand the levels

By default there are three levels: Customer → Project → Task. Every time entry attaches to a node in this hierarchy.

  2. 02

    Create customers

Add your customers at the top level. Each customer can get its own colour, which makes entries easy to recognise later.

  3. 03

    Add projects & tasks

Under each customer you create projects, and beneath those, tasks. Projects can inherit their customer’s colour so everything stays visually consistent.

  4. 04

    Adjust levels & labels

In Workspace settings you enable 1 to 3 levels and set your own labels — e.g. “Customer” → “Client”. Those terms then appear throughout the app.

  5. 05

    Inherit billability

Billability can be set top-down and overridden at any level, so you don’t have to set it on every single entry.

Projects: list or grouped by customer

You can view the Projects page two ways: as a flat “List” or grouped “By customer”. The toggle sits in the filter bar. The grouped view arranges projects under collapsible customer headers with each customer’s project count and total time — the filtered set stays the same, only the presentation changes. The Tasks page has the same toggle (“List” / “Grouped”); there the grouped view nests tasks under customer → project.

Do I have to use all three levels?

No. You can configure 1, 2 or 3 active levels — whatever fits your organisation.

What happens if I rename a customer?

Existing time entries stay correctly assigned: entries reference the node ID, not the name. A rename doesn’t touch the entries.
