Setting up target hours
Target working time sets how much someone owes per weekday — the basis for the balance and the leave account. You keep one default for everyone, an own model only for those who differ, and the year’s public holidays.
Step by step
- 01
Switch it on
Settings → Workspace → General: switch on “Use target working time” (owner or “Manage settings”). The sidebar then shows the “Time accounts” item, right after Reports.
- 02
Weekly target as the default
Time accounts → Setup → “Weekly target”: the hours owed per weekday, such as 8 hours Monday to Thursday and 6.5 on Friday. This default applies to every member without an own model.
- 03
An own model for a member
For part-time or different days, open the member’s page, tab “Target hours” (or the person’s balance), choose “Own model”, enter the weekdays and set “Valid from”. This needs owner or “Leave accounts & target hours”.
- 04
Changes with a date
Every change is a period of its own on a timeline — “in force”, “upcoming” or “superseded”. Earlier months keep their target. To put a member back on the default, add “Follows default” from a date instead of deleting anything.
- 05
Insert public holidays
Setup → “Holidays & free days” → “Insert public holidays”: pick the country (Austria or Germany, there also the federal state) and the year. iXTime computes the dates itself, including movable ones like Easter Monday. Other countries are entered by hand.
- 06
Days off and shortened days
Single days or ranges — company closures, bridge days, 24 December — are added as an exception: “off” or “shortened” with “At most (hours)”. An exception caps the day’s target; it never raises it.
A member’s timeline
The member’s page lists every model with its start: what applies now is highlighted, what is still to come shows as “upcoming”, what came before as “superseded”. That explains why March computes differently from February — and a change can be prepared before it applies.
The year at a glance
Holidays and free days are listed with date, label and cap — next to twelve small month calendars that mark every exception. The list always shows one year, so gaps stand out before the turn of the year, not after it.
What does a member without an own model mean?
They follow the default — not zero hours. Only those who differ need an own model.
Are there flexitime rules such as core hours?
No. iXTime compares owed against worked per day and keeps the balance from that — it does not judge when in the day the work happens.
Holidays for Switzerland or other countries?
The generator knows Austria and Germany. Other countries are entered as exceptions by hand — single days or ranges.
Does a new default change past months?
No. The default, too, changes from a date; whatever lies before it keeps computing with the old target.
